Hello
Carlee is the heart and lens of Sunburst Photography. Based in Calgary, Alberta, she is a Registered Nurse whose passion for the outdoors is matched only by her love of photography. What began as a gift from her late husband—a DSLR camera in 2011 after a brief mention of wanting to get into photography someday—quickly became a lifelong journey of capturing the wild, awe-inspiring beauty of the world around her.

Carlee's photography is a reflection of the peace and perspective she finds in the natural world. Whether she's navigating rugged alpine trails or pausing to photograph light spilling over a mountain ridge, her camera is always close at hand.

When she's not behind the lens or caring for others as a nurse, Carlee can be found climbing rock faces, skiing deep powder, biking forested trails, or plunging into crystal-clear mountain lakes. You just might catch her out on the trails, tripod in tow, chasing the next burst of golden light.
My Story

Sunburst Photography is inspired by the photographer’s deep connection to Sunburst Mountain, near one of the most cherished peaks in the Canadian Rockies. Carlee dedicates time every year to hiking the 65kms it takes to get to and from Sunburst Mountain. She camps in the nearby provincial park and has woken up to everything from -10 degrees to smoke, rain, hail, and blue-bird sunny days.
Whether hiking, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, traveling, or backpacking, her camera and tripod are always within reach, ensuring she is ready to capture exceptional images in some of the most remote locations. This commitment to outdoor exploration and photography allows Carlee to create stunning, immersive imagery that reflects both her passion for nature and her expertise in capturing its raw beauty.
